MEANS is a web-series that examines the often shame-ridden notion of working a “survival job” whilst exploring a creative passion. The series follows two young women, Alex and Sydney, and the jobs they must keep to support their creative dreams. Alex is a veterinary assistant with aspirations of becoming a stand-up comic; Sydney is a server who wants to be a dramatic actor. Though the notion of “survival jobs” has appeared frequently throughout film, television, and other artistic mediums, (and I’m sure, the life of everyone reading this!) we have not yet seen it examined in depth through a comedic lens. MEANS takes the opportunity to find beauty and humor in what we often overlook or spurn.
